Canadian Tire Welland Floatfest is a FREE family event!

We ask that you bring a non-perishable food or hygiene item to donate to Community Food Drives for our local food banks.

The park will be a secured area, all visitors will be asked to register in order to enter the premises.

Participant Waiver Form Release of Liability

I acknowledge this is event being held on the water of the Welland canal and may have physical limitations. It has the potential for injury, property loss and potential death. The risks include but are not limited to, actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants, volunteers, spectators, vendors, event monitors and anyone involved in supporting this event, lack of hydration, weather, water immersion, and or other natural conditions. I understand that this event will be held on and in the water, that the entry and exit points and floaties [devices used in this event] will be wet and very slippery, that I may fall, or otherwise go into the water and acknowledge that I have sufficient abilities to swim to safety, tread water, and keep myself afloat until help arrives, if necessary. I hereby assume all other risks and the risks of any minors under my responsibility, participating in this event.

Defined Parties:

  • “Event” refers to Welland Floatfest, including any associated pre or post event activities
  • “Organizers” refers to the Welland Floatfest Committee, including its members, officers, directors, staff and volunteers.
  • “WRCC” refers to the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation and its representatives.
  • “City” refers to the City of Welland, Ontario.
  • “Released Parties” includes, but is not limited to, the Organizers, the WRCC, the City, sponsors, vendors, contractors, volunteers, and any affiliated individuals or entities assisting with the event.
I certify that i am physically fit for participation in this event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person.

I acknowledge that this accident waiver and release of liability [AWRL] form will be used by the Welland Floatfest, the City of Welland and the WRCC, all volunteers and anyone associated with helping put this event together, in which I may participate and it will govern my actions and responsibilities at said event. All vendors are to have their own liability insurance and will not be protected under any insurance policy provided for this event.

In consideration of my registration and permitting me to participate in this event, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successor, and assign as follows:

[A] Waive, release and discharge from any and all liability for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft or actions of any which may hereafter accrue to me or my travel to and from this event.
The following entities or persons: Welland Floatfest, Welland Floatfest committee, volunteers, event sponsors, the City of Welland and the WRCC.

[B] Indemnify and hold harmless all entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any liabilities or claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of my actions or the actions of others during this event. I hereby consent to receive medical treatment that may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during this event.

I understand that at this event or related activities I may be photographed, I agreed to allow my photo, video or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the event holders, sponsors, and/or assigns.

The AWRL shall be construed broadly to be provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under the applicable law.

NOTE: all participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent. All participants must have a life preserver in their watercraft. In the event you do not, you are floating at your own risk! All participants 12 and under must be wearing a life preserver. Joshua’s Law: this legislation also known as “life jackets for life act” was passed in 2023 and mandates that children 12 and under must wear a lifejacket or PFD

Other Important Information For Floaters

WHERE IS PARKING?

PLEASE PARK WHEREVER YOU FIND LEGAL SPACE TO PARK.

The streets to remember for parking: KING, LINCOLN, PRINCE CHARLES and BROADWAY. You can park on either side of these streets.

Due to limited space at the event, assisted parking is not available. If you require assistance, you can get dropped off at the entrance and a volunteer will be there to help you.

Please note: FLOATFEST WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO VEHICLES, PARKING TICKETS, TOWING OR ANYTHING RELATED TO PARKING YOUR VEHICLE.

WHERE DO I BLOW UP MY INFLATABLE?

WE WILL HAVE AN INDUSTRIAL SIZED INFLATION STATION ON SITE TO ASSIST YOU WITH INFLATING YOUR CRAFTS.

This event is for inflatables only. No canoes, kayaks, paddle boards or man-made floatation devices will be allowed into the designated park area or area of the canal for this festival.

Canadian Tire Welland has an amazing assortment of inflatables of all kinds available for purchase leading up to the event.

PRIZES GALORE!

We have two prizes to give away.

The first is for the Laziest Floater. The second prize will go to the most unique floater.

Winners are chosen by a board member vote.

We also have smaller prizes for 100th, 200th, 300th, 400th, 500th, 600th, 700th, 800th, 900th and 1000 floater that pre-registered online.

Remember, for every food donation, you will receive a ticket for a chance to win a BIG prize. Food donations will be collected at the entrance. See Sarah Sauve and Brad Ulch as soon as you enter the park.
